Veteran journalist Kweku Baako says he finds nothing insulting in Vice-President Dr. Bawumia’s reply to former president Mahama who has described as 419, government’s app to help digitize the economy.
Contrary to the view held by the main opposition NDC, Mr. Baako is convinced Bawumia’s reply was apt.
Bawumia described Mahama as clueless in the matter of the GhanaPostGPS app after Mahama suggested it is needless because Google maps provide a similar service for free.
After explaining the GhanaPostGPS app which is a component of the National Digital Property Addressing System (NDPAS), Dr. Bawumia asked the former president to take his time and read, his favorite punchline to the NDC.
Speaking on Joy News TV’s News File programme on Saturday, South Dayi MP Rockson Dafeamekpor emphatically stated that the Vice-President insulted the former head of state and that attitude is akin to him.
“He [Bawumia] likes to insult, that’s his style, he said. The NDC MP said it is an insult to tell Mahama he does not understand the app as it is also an insult to attack the former president’s integrity.
Veteran journalist Kweku Baako who was also on the show, however, disagreed with the legislator.
“Bawumia’s reaction was apt and proper and I don’t believe being abusive is part of his traits”, he doesn’t go around insulting people”, he said.
Commenting on the GhanaPostGPS, Baako said, “it is obvious that when properly done, it will lead to vast improvement in the business and economic sector so we should all support this”.
He also added that he has been listening to the critics of the addressing system and though he is not an IT expert, he hasn’t so far seen the point they are trying to prove.
